Top 3 reasons to get a Water Tank

11/16/2022

There are many reasons to consider getting a water tank for your home. As homeowners, we don’t really think about water too much. This is because the cost of water bills is actually quite cheap. What we don’t notice or realise is that the drinking water is actually depleting and as a result, water bills are rising significantly. So people are thinking of ways to balance this out. Not all of the water we use is used for drinking. In fact, the vast majority of the water we use goes towards other aspects in a home. Mainly towards cleaning such as showers, dishwashers and laundry.

Here we will go through what we consider to be the top 3 reasons as to why a water tank can be beneficial to a home. Why exactly should you get a Water Tank Ballarat?

Let’s find out.
1. Rainwater is perfect for washing clothes

Our drinking water goes through a lot for it to become suitable enough for human consumption. So we all presume that if it’s good enough for drinking, then it must be perfectly fine for washing clothes. This is not the case as the pH levels that are suitable for drinking are not great for clothing.
There ends up being certain trace minerals in regular drinking water such as calcium and magnesium. These elements end up reacting with the soaps we use for washing clothes, in a bad way. Without getting too technical, these elements do not allow soaps to fully do their job. There ends up being a sort of scum left behind in the clothing, over time making clothes wear out faster.

This is where rainwater is perfect because rainwater is what is called ‘soft water’. Meaning there are far less of these heavy trace elements in rainwater. This means the soaps can work their magic without interruption and be washed out of the clothing fully.
No scum left behind!

2. Conserve drinking water

Having a rainwater tank that is specifically setup for laundry and gardening would save thousands of liters. A water tank Ballarat plumbers can easily install and have you and your family use for washing means we can conserve drinking water. Now imagine if everyone had a simple rainwater tank, we could save the precious drinking water and allow the reserves to build up.

If we all don’t do our part in protecting certain resources, such as drinking water, then there will come a time where heavy restrictions will have to be imposed. We can avoid this by all using the large roof space to collect rainwater and guide it into a water tank. You will then have a large personal reservoir that you can use as you please without feeling guilty of wastage.

3. Future proof water bill increases

As towns grow larger with development and population increasing, we are needing more and more water every year. With all this demand it’s only a matter of time until water bills become a significant part of our yearly budget. Having a water tank Ballarat can use to collect and store rainwater means you are already ahead of the curve. If your water tank can save you 30% of your yearly water usage, then that will equate to a 30% saving on all future water bills.

Each home uses roughly 1000 liters of water per day. This equates to 300 thousand to 400 thousand liters per house, per year. This number is astronomical, our yearly water consumption could fill the average home pool 7 times!

If we all had a basic water tank just for the garden that meant we could save even just 10% of our usage, the water saved is immeasurable.

So that is a list of our top 3 reasons as to why we believe having a water tank is beneficial. Another reason that could have easily been in the top 3 is that a water tank adds value to your property. There are many other benefits and reasons, but a short sharp blog outlining the main positives was the goal of this post.

Thanks for reading and don’t forget to share with your friends!
