​The main causes for dripping taps are:

• Tap Washer needs replacing - Tap washers are what blocks the water from getting through when you turn the tap off. With a lot of use and, even the best tap washers will face some wear and tear over time and need replacing. ​
• ​Valve Seating is worn  - When the tap washer seals the pipe and stops the water from flowing past, it presses against the valve seating. However if the seating surface has some cracks forming from overuse, the tap washer is not able to press against the whole surface of the seating, letting the tiniest amount of water pass through, just enough to create a drip.
• ​The O Ring needs replacing - The tap can also drip near the handle. If that’s the case, you will need to get your O ring replaced. The O ring is a disc that is sealing the gaps around the screw that holds the handle in place.
